Mount Merbabu has a height of 3,145 meters above sea level (masl). This mountain is a challenging mountain with awesome scenery. This makes this mountain becomes its oasis for climbers and height lovers who are familiar with the typical cold air of the mountains.
Mount Merbabu is located in the three regencies, Semarang, Boyolali and Magelang, Central Java Province, Mount Merbabu is a stratovolcano, which is composed of the repeated eruption of rocks. Merbabu erupted in 1560 and 1979.
Five Pathways of Mount Merbabu
If Merapi only has one hiking trail, then Merbabu has five fabulous hiking trail! Its location in three regencies makes Mount Merbabu very easy to reach.
If you come from Semarang, you can simply use the Kopek Thekelan line, Salatiga. Meanwhile, if you are from Magelang, the Wekas line is everyone’s favorite.
If the two routes are not possible to go, Merbabu also comes with the Kopeng Cunthel, Suwanti, and Selo lines.
If you go from the Selo line, you will meet other hikers because this line is commonly used by hikers.
Each line is provided with four to five stops. So, you don’t need to worry when you are climbing Mount Merbabu.
The charm of Mount Merbabu
The right time to climb Mount Merbabu is from May to September. The recommended pathway for mountain climbing is via Selo because you will be presented with an amazing natural panorama.

Mount Merbabu is adjacent to Mount Merapi in the south and has the two highest peaks, Syarif Peak (3,119 masl) and Kenteng Songo Peak (3,142 masl) with five craters, namely Condrodimuko, Kombang, Kendang, Rebab, and Sambernyowo.
