Akbar cave is one of the best tourism objects that Tuban presented. The main attraction of Akbar cave is the long tunnels that spread inside this cave.
The cave is located in the center of the city. It’s behind the traditional “Pasar Baru” market, so you won’t find it hard to get there.
There is also much interesting cave scenery that you can’t find in other places. If you get inside the cave, you’ll see a beautiful river flowing calmly.
In that river, you’ll see the various fishes that come from the waterfall in the center of the cave. You can feed the fish by throwing a piece of bread into the river.
In the other part of the cave called “Mahahandhapa Sri Manganti,” visitors will be presented with traditional music such as Gamelan, Siteran, and any other beautiful traditional music.
This cave has two sacred sites called “Pasepen Kori Sinandi” and “Pasujudan Baitul Akbar.” When you enter this area, you have to take off your shoes.
The area of the cave that is available for exploration is only about five hundred square meters. The long tunnels, 40 or 50 kilometers long, have been closed in order to avoid any danger. There is a small cafeteria in this cave. Slow music will accompany you while you enjoy food and drink.
There are some legends surrounding this cave. The first legend is This cave was used as a training center for Ronggolawe soldiers when they planned to skirmish the Mojopahit Kingdom in the 13th century.
The second legend is This cave was the hidden place of Raden Mas Sahid, a generous thief who finally regretted his deed and became the saints of Islam (Wali Songo), whose popular name was “Sunan Kalijaga” in the 17th century.
