Gerak Bojonegoro Dam is a dam on the Bengawan Solo river. This dam separates the Kalitidu District from the Trucuk District, Bojonegoro Regency, East Java.
The dam, which spent 351 billion rupiahs in loan funds from the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), has multiple functions.
Among others, like flood control, irrigation, water provider for industry and households. Therefore, the government launched this dam as a tourist spot for Bojonegoro Regency.
The presence of the Gerak dam is not only useful for providing water for households and agriculture. But also to prevent damage to the Bengawan Solo river ecosystem in the event of a flood. and most importantly as a form of water management in East Java.
Another benefit of this dam is to supply water for agriculture during the dry season, and for industrial needs. This dam also connects Padang Village with Ngringinrejo Village, Kalitidu District.
For agriculture, this dam is able to meet the irrigation needs of 6,400-9,000 hectares of agricultural land spread over eight sub-districts. They are Trucuk, Kalitidu, Purwosari, Malo, Kasiman, Ngraho, and Margomulyo sub-districts. Also agriculture in the district of Blora.
The dam with a length of 50 km is able to accommodate drainage of up to 13 million cubic meters with a discharge of 5,850 liters per second. With the construction of this dam, farmers on the banks of the Bengawan Solo River can increase their agricultural productivity.
Previously, farmers could only plant twice a year, but now farmers can expect to plant three times a year. In the past, about 21,000 hectares of rice farming in western Bojonegoro relied on rainwater farming. Once pumped, the area cannot be harvested twice a year. At that time, the rice fields irrigated with water pumps were expanded to 600,000 hectares. The dam plants 11,000 hectares of rice twice a year. And an average of 7 tons per hectare.
During the colonial era, the Dutch had started planning to build the dam. However, because the colonial government at that time went bankrupt, the Dutch colonial side canceled the construction of this dam.
This motion dam provides many benefits for the people of Bojonegoro.
In addition to basic irrigation needs, the oil and gas industry and drinking water can also use the benefits of dams for industrial needs. In addition, there is a bridge with a length of 50 meters and a width of about 4 meters. So it can open access to remote areas. This dam has a total area of 1,841,752 meters.
If you want to visit this place, it is better in the afternoon, because the atmosphere is cooler. Gerak Dam is usually visited after tourists have really enjoyed the farmhouses at the nearby Sanglingin Lejo Arboretum. In this way, after the star fruit harvest, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Bojonegoro Mobile Dam.
