Hong Tiek Hian temple, or Dukuh temple, is located on Jalan Dukuh, Surabaya.
This temple has 2 main buildings separated by an alleyway. Both of the buildings consist of 2 levels.
On the first floor of the building, you will find an altar to worship Macko and Kong Co.
On the second floor of the building, you will find an altar to worship Buddha, Goddess Kwan Im, and other goddesses.
Besides for the place of worship, this place is also being used as a tourism object.
In this temple also perform wayang Poethi, a traditional Chinese shadow Puppet.
Wayang Poethi usually performed in Imlek (Chinese New Year), but sometimes they also performed on any other day.
Unfortunately, this show is not that popular. Many people are not attracted to watch this show.
But, according to sintiaastrarina, this shadow puppet is showed for gods, not only for humans.
In this temple, you can also buy many things such as incense, candles, paper money for praying, and many more.
Those items have their own meaning. For example, candles are used to help you find your luck, and incense is used as a medium for praying.
Paper money for praying or kim coa is used for an offering to gods and your ancestors.
There is also a praying area in this temple. People usually burn incense, praying, and put the incense in the designated location.
