Nusa Barong is a paradise as a small island located in Puger, Jember Regency, East Java. In the past, The Dutch Government established Nusa Barong as a Nature Reserve in 1920. It made Nusa Barong an uninhabited island that was rarely visited by humans. This island has beautiful nature and excellent environmental sustainability.
Nusa Barong has various flora and fauna. Some of the animals in this place include: water lizards, gray monkeys, green turtles, snakes, etc. The ocean holds many beautiful coral reefs and it has variety of fish. Visitors need to be careful when diving so they not to damage the natural beauty, they should keep a distance so as not to go too far into the middle of the sea because it is very dangerous.
Visitors can do various activities such as camping, swimming, snorkeling, relaxing and enjoying the wind, and at night they can enjoy the beauty of the sky and stars. But even so, at night the atmosphere in Nusa Barong is very tense.
Mystery Giant Snake
This Paradise has a mystical story. Based on its name, Nusa = Island, Barong = Snake, which means “Snake Island”, the locals believe that this island is inhabited by giant snakes and astral beings. This place is also used as a medium for studying magic.
Operational Hours
Visitors can go to Nusa Barong Island by boat from the port of Puger Wetan, the trip takes about 4 km and takes 2-3 hours. Visitors must buy a ticket- boat to go to this island. It costs around IDR 1,500,000 for 8-10 people.
Don’t forget to prepare a cellphone or camera with a full battery and also a spare battery to capture every moment because every place on this island has a very beautiful spot. Dont forget to prepare a lot of supplies because on this island there are no shops. And keep it clean, do not litter in order to maintain the beauty of this place.
