There is nothing wrong with Banyuwangi being called one of the famous tourism cities in East Java. Because Banyuwangi does have many famous tourist attractions.
There is three national park in Banyuwangi which is known till foreign country, many beautiful beaches. One of those beatiful beach is Pantai Plengkung or Plengkung Beach. Plengkung Beach or commonly referred to as G-Land by Visitting tourists, is located in Alas Purwo National Park area. Alas Purwo National Park itself is already a famous tourist attraction in Banyuwangi. So Plengkung Beach of course also a famous tourist attraction to be precise is a famous spot for surfers to enjoy surfing.
Plengkung Beach or what is often called G-Land has three distinct meanings from the designation. The three meanings themselves consist of G, the first is Grajagan which means big wavey bay. Second G is Green, it can also mean that this beach is still very natural because it is located on the edge of a green tropical forest. Third is Great, which can be interpreted as the waves owned by this beach are very large and long.
Plengkung Beach or Pantai Plengkung is one of the beaches with the best waves in the world and is a haven for local and international surfers. The waves on this beach can reach a height of four to eight meters. Not only the height of Eight Meters the wave hear also with a formation which is up to seven formation. Beaches with these characteristics only exist in a few countries, such as Hawaii, Australia and South Africa.
Many world-class surfers dub this beach as The Seven Giant Waves Wonder which means one of the seven best surfing spots in the world.
On this beach, several world surfing competitions have also been held, one of which is the Quiksilver Pro Surfing Championship. This championship was held in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Please visit in July-September every year because in those months the waves at this beach are the best for surfing.
