Plengkung Beach is located in the Alas Purwo National Tourism area. The waves on this beach are quite challenging for surfers. Many say that the waves on Plengkung Beach are similar to those in Hawaii. This beach has a wave height reaching 6 to 8 meters and a length of two kilometers. These conditions make this beach a mandatory destination for surfers.
There are three types of waves in Plengkung beach. Kong Waves with waves reaching 6-8 meters high; Speedis Waves with a height of 5-6 m and Many Track Waves that have a height of 3-4 m. Many Track waves are used by beginner surfers to hone their skills.
How to go to Plengkung Beach
There are several access roads to Plengkung Beach that you can use. In short, the route to Plengkung Beach is divided into three, which are:
Road trip
To reach your destination easily, you can drive a private vehicle or rent a vehicle. Just go straight from Banyuwangi to the direction of Alas Purwo National Park. You can only take a vehicle until the Pancur guard post. When you reach this post, you have to take a vehicle provided because the road is a difficult route. This vehicle will take you to the Plengkung or G-Land beach gate.
Road and Sea
You can take the route to Plengkung Banyuwangi Beach by a combination of a road trip and sea travel if your trip starts from outside the city. The first tourist transit place is Grajagan Beach. You take the land route first to Grajagan beach, and then you take a boat, either a fishing boat or another boat from the beach. Likewise, if you are traveling from Bali, then you need to travel overland in advance to the port, then take the boat to Plengkung Beach.
Sea Travel
If only by sea, Plengkung Beach can be reached by boarding a boat if you are from the island of Bali or the direction of the Grajagan beach.

Surfing is the main attraction presented by this beach. In the international surfing world, the beach waves are known as “7 giant waves” where the waves can reach 6 meters high. The most interesting thing is that the waves that reach 4-6 meters can roll for 5 minutes before they hit the beach and disappear. The longwave time interval is what surfers like. It’s not surprising that this beach has held an international surfing championship 5 times. If you are interested in surfing on this beach you can come from April to August. Those months are the best because the waves are good and high.
- Fishing
For those of you who prefer to experience nature with quiet activities, it is highly recommended to try out the fishing experience on Plengkung Beach. Fishing while looking at the beautiful scenery of the blue sea on this beach will give you the best fishing experience you ever had. For fishing on this beach, you can come when the waves are low, which is November-March.
- Snorkeling and diving
There are also snorkeling and diving spots that are safe enough to dive. You might see various underwater scenes that are still natural.
