The pine forest of Mangunan is administratively located in Mangunan village, Dlingo sub-district, Bantul district, Yogyakarta.
In the past, this area was an area of dry and calcareous soil with a low fertility rate. Then by the government through Perhutani this area was used for a Forest Management Resort (RPH) with its main program being reforestation.
Pine Mangunan Forest takes up areas of pine forests in which there are no surrounding bushes. Pine trees grow quite high in this area and have the same spacing between trees. This presents a view of pine trees that grow neatly and lined in a pattern. Pine base or brownish soil around this area is not overgrown with shrubs or weeds, giving the impression that this place is like a pine garden.
Visitors are welcome to tour the tourist area of the Pine Mangunan Forest by walking past a gate that has a perimeter fence. The guardrail was intentionally made so those visitor vehicles, especially motorbikes, were not brought into the pine forest area. Visitors are free to do activities around the pine forest but pay attention to the norms of modesty. Today many groups of people use it as a place for discussion, study, or tourism. Or get to know nature in this place.
