Pangandaran beach has white beach sand and clear seawater. Both of these charms will welcome your first arrival in the Pangandaran beach area.

Pangandaran Beach has a wide stretch of beach. The area is consists of two parts, namely the Pangandaran Barat beach which has another name Pananjung beach, and Pangandaran Timur beach. Both are separated by a bay.

The western part of Pangandaran Beach has more gentle slope characteristics. Compared to Pangandaran beach in the east, Pangandaran Barat beach has more visitors.

In addition to its wider coastal area, Pangandaran Barat beach also has quieter water waves that are suitable for swimming. Then in the afternoon, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset. While on the eastern coast of Pangandaran, you will find more fish ponds. There is less sand and there is a dock which in the mainland that protrudes towards the sea.

Travel to Pangandaran Beach

When you go from Jakarta to Pangandaran (355 km), you can take bus Kampung Rambutan-Pangandaran, or you can use the bus directly to the Pangandaran terminal which is only 300 meters to the beach entrance. after that, you can walk or use a rickshaw.

If you go from Bandung to Pangandaran (236 km), take the Bandung-Tasikmalaya-Banjar-Pengandaran bus. The bus serving Bandung Pangandaran is “Budiman” bus, there are many AC and Non-AC options. You can also use mini bus transportation services.

If you go from Yogyakarta to Pangandaran (385 km), take the Yogyakarta-Cilacap-Kalipucang-Pangandaran bus.

For those of you who have a private vehicle, use the same path as above.

Tourist Activities on Pangandaran Beach

Snorkeling and skin diving

Snorkeling is popular water recreation, especially in tropical beach resorts and shallow dive sites. Divers also can observe a wide variety of underwater flora and fauna, such as coral reefs, fish, shellfish, starfish, seaweed, jellyfish, shrimp, and turtles.

There are two snorkeling spots in Pangandaran, the first one is on the west coast of Pangandaran. For the second spot, it is located on the east coast of Pangandaran. The two snorkeling spots offer beauty in the form of marine parks, coral reefs, and beautiful fishes.

Surfing

Pangandaran with its many charming beaches also has a beach for surfing activities such as Bukaras Beach, Bulak Setra Beach, and West Coast front of Malabar hotel.

Although there are several beach spots used for surfing in Pangandaran, the Batukaras beach is excellent for surfers. The waves are quite high and the features of the Batukaras beach can lure world surfers to practice on the beach.

Mangrove Conservation

The Mangrove forest ecosystem is unique because there are only a few plant species survive in this kind of place. In Pangandaran, there are 2 locations for that you can ‘adopt’ a mangrove. The locations are Sanghiangkalang Batukaras and the second is located in Bulaksetra Pangandaran.

With mangrove donation activities, visitors can study about mangrove forests and their functions for the environment and various other knowledge related to mangrove ecosystems. Planting mangroves with your own hands is perfect for those of you who want to travel while studying.
